NEW IDENTITY

New YEAR, new objectives, new logo, new baseline!
After eight years of teaching mathematics and physics applied to design and digital fabrication at ESDAC School in Montpellier, the time has come to give archimooc a fresh start. A new beginning calls for a new visual identity—one that not only reinforces our brand but also clearly communicates our vision for the future.
The new logo is rooted in the hexagonal cube, the emblem of BOUVAGNET ARCHITECTES, but it spins like an open book. Why? Because knowledge lies at the heart of this project. Teaching for eight years has been a journey of highs and lows, one that has profoundly influenced how our office works. It all started with a question from a student during my first year: ‘What is mathematics for in architecture? Do you actually use what you teach us in your practice?’ This question haunted me. It took years of research and practice to answer it, but today, I’m convinced: knowledge is the foundation of architecture.
I believe architecture is mastered when three disciplines converge: Arts, Sciences, and Literature. Yet, universities—public and private—often prioritize Arts and occasionally touch on Literature, leaving Sciences as the neglected sibling. I don’t know why, but with over 25 years of experience, I can say this: you cannot ignore any of these pillars if you want to be both creative and effective. Making things happen is not the same as drawing them. Parametric design and AI are set to transform our profession, and we must be ready.
The open book in our logo symbolizes the tool that connects us to rare resources and the joy of sharing knowledge. With this new identity, archimooc adopts a clear baseline: ARCHImooc | SHARING ARCHITECTURE. You may also notice another change: archimooc will now primarily publish in English, with French content reserved for administrative or technical topics specific to France. More on this in future articles!
